Rhetorical Precis for "Anger: An American History"

In Stacy Schiff's op-ed "Anger: An American History"( Dec, 18 2015) from The New York Times, she claims how America's phobia and hatred among foreign people has been an ongoing part of our history. The author first supports her claim by acknowledging the hypocrisy of America; she then looks back on the events of the Puritans and their hatred on the Quakers; and to conclude she ties in the past with the present in America's hatred toward minorities. Her purpose is to inform the reader how history repeats itself and we blame our problems on others. She seems to have a liberal audience in mind because its important to help aid civil liberties and human rights among minorities.
